Location
Barr Lake State Park in Brighton ColoradoTime
I took this photo fairly early in the morning as I walked the path that goes around Barr Lake on my way to see the Bald Eagle nesting site.Lighting
It was a bright sunny morning, but the sun was still low in the sky to the west. The birds like the trees, so it was a dappled sunlight as you can see in the photoEquipment
This photo was taken with a Sony Alpha 77 with a Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM II Lens on a monopod.Inspiration
I like to take pictures of any wildlife I see, especially birds that you don't see every day. This oriole was one of 2 I saw at the lake that day, any I have only seen one other in Colorado.Editing
Crop and editing the exposure a bit.In my camera bag
I started out with Minolta and have just kept with that after Sony bought them. So I have a couple of Sony bodies (Sony Alpha 77 and Sony Alpha 99II). Lenses include a 16-35, 35-70, and 70-400. I also have a 16-300 Tamron for traveling.Feedback
Like the old saying goes f4 and be there. There is no substitute for finding out where the wildlife are and spending time there.
