Behind The Lens

Location

The cellars of Kloster Eberbach, the place where the original Name of the Rose was filmed. I poked the lens through openings between the bars locking the private area (shown) from the public area (where we were). Five images stitched together to make up for the gaps in the barrier.

Time

Around noon during a personal guided tour.

Lighting

All lights are visible in the shot. Long-ish exposure, hand-held.

Equipment

Fuji X100, hand-held. No flash, no extra lights.

Inspiration

When I walked past the barred barrier and peeked through the little door, the lighting inside the cellar got me. I knew this would look good as a wide shot.

Editing

The usual RAW processing before stitching the de-lensed images into one panorama.

In my camera bag

Just the camera, a circular polariser and a Formatt Hitech filter holder.

Feedback

If you shoot through a wall hand-held, lean against the wall in any way feasible to stabilise yourself.
