Location
The image was taken at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne during the Motorclassica concours d'elegance event in October.Time
It was taken at 10.30 in the morning and, even though it was indoor, I had to pay attention to the direction of light due to the number of windows in the building.Lighting
The lighting is a mix of natural window light and different types of artificial lighting to deal with in the scene.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark III and the 16-35 f4 lens on a 3LT Roger tripod and a variable ND filter. The ND filter allowed me a longer exposure so I could blur out a lot of the people from the resulting image.Inspiration
It is one of the all time classic cars in a beautifully detailed classic Victorian era building. I wanted to capture the flowing lines of the car as well as the gorgeous detail of the architecture and art work.Editing
This was a Lightroom merge of 3 bracketed shots with the intention to capture a great deal of highlight and shadow detail to really show off the car and building as well as possible. In my camera bag
It depends on what I'm doing but I usually carry a Canon 5D Mark IV, 24-70 2.8 Mark II lens and CPL for general use and then add lenses, bodies, filters and speedlights for more specific shoots.Feedback
Patience is the key for a shot like this. Walk around to look for the best compromise of angle and light. Wait for the right time to take the images without interfering with others enjoyment of the exhibition.
