Location
This photo was taken on a trip to San Francisco with my family. It was very windy and overcast the day we decided to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. As we walked across the bridge, I loved how massive and strong the tiers of the bridge looked as you walked underneath them. That's when I decided to snap this photo.Time
This photo was mid-day, afternoon.Lighting
Shooting in San Francisco can be tricky because you never know whether or not the fog is going to be there. When it is, it creates a soft blanket of light.Equipment
This photo, if I remember correctly, was taken on my Nikon D5300 with a 11-16mm 2.8 Tokina lens. I was just starting out in photography at that time and wasn't shooting full-frame yet.Inspiration
I always wanted to get a photo of the GGB and this vantage point made it seem so massive and personal.Editing
Minor light adjustments were done on the photo. I added some contrast and a little bit of sharpening to make the bridge really pop.In my camera bag
I normally shoot with a Nikon D810 body and I take a D3 with me as well if I plan on doing a time-lapse or long exposure, that way I have a second body to shoot telephoto with. I typically have a Tamron 15-30mm 2.8, Tokina 24-70mm 2.8, and a Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 in my bag. It can get pretty heavy but I like getting everything from super wide to the details of my subject.Feedback
Park at the H. Dana Bowers Northbound Rest Area right off of highway 101 and from there you can get right on the bridge, plus have great views of the city. There can be a lot of people on the bridge so just make sure you are courteous to other people before stoping and taking a photo.
