Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in La Quinta, CA. I was at work and going to fix a customers service when I saw an empty lot and the mirror on the lake. I quickly turned around and parked to get a few shots

Time

This was taken early in the morning just after sunrise. I spent about 10 minutes getting a few shots. 5 minutes setting up and tearing down and about five minutes taking pictures.

Lighting

This was taken during the golden hour just after sunrise when the light is a little redder and softer. I would always take my equipment with me just in case I see great lighting and location.

Equipment

The equipment I used is a Canon T2i with an 18-55 lens. I used a tripod and wired shutter button remote. I don't remember if I used any filters on this shot.

Inspiration

The lighting and mirror on the water is the reason I stopped to take this shot. I only had a split second view of the scene while driving by but it was enough for me to turn around and take a few shots.

Editing

I used Photoshop a little to adjust some of the lighting details. Just a little tweaking was necessary.

In my camera bag

I cram as much as I can into my bag. The camera of course with two lenses. Shutter remote and lens filters and a tripod. I have added a lens ball and Arsenal to my bag since than.

Feedback

Always, always and always have your camera and equipment with you. You never know when the lighting and location can be perfect for a great shot. Most of my great shots were because I was in the right place at the right time.
