Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near London Bridge during my University days. I first started getting into photography during medical school as a hobby, living in London gave me plenty of opportunity to explore the city by lens. Whilst I primarily enjoy landscape photography, city living allowed me to find a perceptive eye for photographing every day objects in an interesting light.

Time

This was taken in the afternoon of a sunny day, taking a stroll along the embankment between Tower and London Bridge with my camera.

Lighting

Although a sunny day, the reflective metal surface made for great contrast in black and white with an accidental touch of Bokeh.

Equipment

This was a shot using one of my first cameras, I believe a Canon 550d with a kit 18-55mm lens. I’ve since explored with the nifty fifty being my favourite.

Inspiration

I was enjoying one of my many city walks in London to break away from a busy city life.

Editing

I usually use Lightroom to manipulate my photos. For this photo I wanted to accentuate the lighting/contrast with black and white photography so I played around with the saturation and contrast.

In my camera bag

My favourite piece of equipment to date is my 50mm lens, although I am searching for a better wide angle lens in light of my passion for landscape photography. I do find an adjustable ND filter is always handy in the city, especially for long exposure shots.

Feedback

Mostly I would say that my creativity comes from my passion for long walks and enjoying the views along the way. The best photos are unexpected so just enjoy yourself and the rest will follow suit.
