Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the zoo at Budapest.

Time

In the morning sometime after the zoo had opened I took this photo.

Lighting

Nothing at all. I just tried to catch the moment.

Equipment

Just an easily portable Sony DSC-HX50 I used.

Inspiration

The giant anteater is one of my favourite animal. As I remember the female member of the pair that is nourished in the zoo of Budapest was pregnant at that time. And it was the very moment when she gave life to their cubs in this wood shelter that can be seen in the background. And the young father who was closed out from there was really anxious. So he was just walking from one to the another corner of this wood shack listening the sounds smelling the scents which came from inside. The visitors who didn't know about the happenings became a little bit overexcited because until this point the anteaters usually tried to hide away from them. However it looked like the cheering and the big crowd irritated the male who couldn't see, hear or smell anything so became a little bit maniac in his marching. And I don't know why may be because he was getting too hot in this also high temperature or he simply wanted to show his bad feelings to the people behind me but he started to stretch out his long tongue. So I just had to wait for the right moment.

Editing

It was not necessary.

In my camera bag

Nothing special just the simplest Sony cameras.

Feedback

The matter of fact it was nothing but good luck. The only advice I can give that you should have the patience to wait for the right moment and a good eye to see the chance because most of the people simply walked on by it. And in fact until that moment I also hardly could imagine that I would take pictures of tongues.
