On one of my annual visits to China I made an impulse decision to try squeeze a visit to The Great Wall while in Beijing.

Little did I know I had few totally unique elements lining up that would make for one of the most incredible life moments.

I arrived and discovered there was literally only an hour before closing so the prospect of racing ahead to make the top vantage point was going to be a challenge, but I pushed ahead and what followed was the sun was setting spectacularly with each step I took.

By the time I reached the highest point possible the sunset fell on the wall like some greater force had illuminated it.

As the world APEC leaders were meeting Beijing, authorities had stepped into a mode of banning cars and manufacturers from operating, making the air some of the clearest one will experience in that part of the world.

So with a clear sky and a setting sun, I had a realisation that what stood before me was one of life's most rarest moments - SUNDOWN AT THE GREAT WALL.
