Behind The Lens

Location

I'm a self taught photographer who has been working as a professional for a few years now. This shot was actually taken during a TF shoot with Vanessa, who contacted me about working together as she liked my work. We had covered some of her own ideas, and this shot was taken during one of my "funny fives" when i was just going with the flow.

Time

This shot was taken in the afternoon.

Lighting

Single beauty dish at 45 degrees. Fairly close approx 1.5 meters away

Equipment

Canon EOS 6D with a 600RT on the hotshoe to trigger the Beauty dish

Inspiration

I like to experiment with the "hard-soft" light from a beauty disk and the cactus was bugging me in the corner of my eye. So I got Vanessa to grab it.

Editing

Subtle skin softening and that was about it!

In my camera bag

Camera body, 50mm, 85mm, 70-200mm 24-70mm and 14mm lenses.

Feedback

The best advice I can give is to just go with the flow. Don't be afraid to let your mind wander and just leap on inspiration as it comes to you. If you have a cool model to work with, that trusts you, it makes life a lot easier!
