Behind The Lens
Location
I spend a lot of time driving the back roads of my home province looking for abandoned beauties. The ground was growing up around the parts that had fallen and it reminded me of how we are all born from dirt and return to dirt. We rarely see the process so this was a unique find and one of my favourites still to this day.Time
It was mid to early evening. The sun was beginning it’s decent and crated a great back light that enhanced the wood tones of the building.Lighting
The light was perfect, it wasn’t high in the sky so it wasn’t casting harsh shadows and was back lighting the building nicely and helped provide a unique aspect to editing.Equipment
Hand held Nikon D3100 with a wide angle lens.Inspiration
I love exploring and finding buildings that have been forgotten. I like to sit and imagine the stories locked inside the walls. I like to wonder about the people that lived there, why they left and where they are now.Editing
Just a little bit of editing to bring out the colors and the sun lightIn my camera bag
My Nikon and my wide angle are what I carry most, I carry a lot of camera cards, extra batteries is a must and my telephoto lens for those beautiful birds I see flying around.Feedback
Take your time, play with settings, don’t be afraid to play with angles and composure. But when you photography something with heavy lines Keep in mind people’s eyes follow lines instinctually so make sure the lines are prominent in your conpmposure
