Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the living room of my mom's house in Colorado. I am definitely an amateur photographer. For the most part I am self taught in the art of photography. I did take one black/white class back in college and would have taken more but the wait list was long.

Time

I can't remember the exact time of day I took this photo, but it was in the afternoon of April 24, 2014.

Lighting

I recall the day was a little cloudy, so there was the light coming in from the window and a small light sitting on a table to the left of me.

Equipment

I used the camera on my phone - Samsung S4

Inspiration

The inspiration for this photo came because for once my dog was still. Generally she is walking around making sure she doesn't miss anything, but for this one moment she just laid there just looking up at me.

Editing

I didn't change anything about this photo after I took it.

In my camera bag

Unless I'm traveling some place, I don't usually carry a bag full of equipment anymore. I normally just have my phone. There are some rare occasions that I will take my Kodak along with me if I'm out and about.

Feedback

Patience is a photographer's best friend. That is especially true when it comes to taking pictures of animals. Since taking this picture of my dog, I have tried numerous other times to capture another great picture of her with no success. That doesn't mean I've given up, I'm just being very patient. Like with anything in life worth capturing, hold on to that patience while also keeping an eye out for those rare and photographic moments.
