Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at Formby beach. We go here often in the Summer, when the weather is nice it's like being in another country.

Time

This was taken around midday, not normally my favourite time to shoot as the sun is too harsh normally. However the clouds really aided to the shot.

Lighting

Normally around this time of time the sun is too harsh to shoot. Luckily the clouds were brewing a storm and that really aided to the lighting.

Equipment

This was taken on a Canon 7D, with a 24-70mm L series lens. No flash, flash aperture, exactly the way I like to shoot.

Inspiration

I was with my Fiance, and I spotted this couple at the corner of my eye. I pointed them out to her, and said that will be us when we are older, hence the title of the shot.

Editing

The exposure was pretty spot on for this shot, the only thing I had to do was increase the contrast to bring out the colour in the clouds, and add a small amount of vignetting.

In my camera bag

I've upgraded my 7D to a 6D, 50mm f1.4 & 24-70mm.

Feedback

The best advice I can give to anyone is get out there and shoot. Whenever you go anywhere, take your camera and snap away. You'll take hundreds of pictures, and if you're lucky you'll like five of them. Don't be disheartened by this.
