I have been spending some time recently scanning in and restoring shots from a trip which I did a long time ago when I travelled from Nepal through Tibet. It's a wonderful way to relive an amazing travel experience. At the time, Tibet had only been opened to the outside world for about two years. We crossed the Himalaya and travelled,by land, across the country to the capital Lhasa, from where we flew back to Kathmandu via the south side of Everest. What a spectacular flight! It was an amazing ten days in total. As we crossed the mountains, and travelled across the "Roof of the World" we came upon sights like this the whole way. The people would mound up little piles of rocks or make flags, like the ones you see in the picture, with all kinds of little pieces of rag. Apparently, to the Tibetans, this is a form of prayer.
