Location
The Butterfly House at Chester Zoo, one of my favourite places to go and it seams so long since been able too.Time
I try to make the Butterfly house the first thing i do when the Zoo opens, so taken around 10.30, try to get there before anyone else, butterflies are generally still warming up so there are morning sitting around and therefor a bit easier to spot and get close to.Lighting
A mix of natural light (its essentially a greenhouse) with some additional lights. No flash or own lighting used.Equipment
Sony SLT-A57, SAL-75300 f/4.5-5.6, no flash. no tripod.Inspiration
It possed for me :) with any animal of any type you just have to take the chance.Editing
Level, brightness and a bot of cropping. In my camera bag
Now, Sony A7, probably with a vintage prime lens, either the Sony A57 or Panasonic GX7 as a second body depending on what I am doing. Landscapes is the A57 with wide zoom. Street or Zoo the GX7 with a body cap lens or long zoom making use of the extra crop factor.Feedback
Keep trying, these are fleeting moments so you just have to snap and hope!
