Behind The Lens

Location

I was out for a picnic with a bunch of friends in a nature resort in India. We were strolling out near a small water body and I saw this beautiful kingfisher and clicked it.

Time

It was around 2 PM when we went out for a stroll post lunch when I shot this picture.

Lighting

The best part about the shot was that the natural light was perfect which made the shot come out so well. It was neither too harsh nor too soft

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D40 hand-held with a Tamron 75-300mm lens.

Inspiration

The majestic look of a Kingfisher has always been something that I wanted to shoot. The colours of the bird make it so beautiful.

Editing

I am not a fan of post processing. For this one as well I just enhanced the colours a bit for them to stand out.

In my camera bag

I am a big Nikon fan and alway carry Nikon D40 and D3300 in my bag. I carry my Nikon kit lens, a 50mm prime lens and Tamron 75-300mm lens.

Feedback

I always tell anyone who asks about a tip on photography to be aware of your surroundings. Be observant. The more you observe, the more options you will have to get the right shots. Natural light is the best.
