Location
This photo was taken on the beautiful Toorongo Falls walking track near Noojee Victoria, Australia. This is located in the Baw Baw shire not far from Mt. Baw Baw.Time
This image was taken in the evening.Lighting
Due to the low light conditions it was a great opportunity for long exposure. The low light also made the scene look dark and enchanting. With the slow shutter speed the water appeared as though it was almost glowing in the moon light.Equipment
This image was taken with my Nikon coolpix P900. It is a fabulous bridging camera for an armature like myself. I also used a tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo because the scene looked so enchanting. The green miss on the rocks was iridescent and the water looked as if it was glowing in the dark.Editing
Using post processing editing software (Lightroom) I increased the contrast and added a vignette effect. I also adjusted the highlights and white balance to reduce clipping from the over exposed water until it looked like it was glowing in the dark.In my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon P900 coolpix camera. It is a great bridging camera for an amateur photographer like myself. I also don't go anywhere without a collection of lens filters. I have a Hoya variable Neutral density filter, a polarizing filter, Macro filters. I also have a lens cleaning cloth and in a separate bag I have my tripod.Feedback
To capture something similar to this shot the location and lighting are most important. It was essential to find a location with moving water. The low lighting made it possible to slow the shutter speed right down. The longer the shutter can remain open without over exposing the image the better. In this case I actually wanted the image to be slightly under exposed to give the dark, mysterious and enchanting feel. The bright green moss was also very important. Without the bright green this image would have been too dark and uninteresting. A tripod would be essential for capturing an image like this.
