I had to wait for the sun to drop just low enough to illuminate the dress without overexposing it. One thing I have learned about portrait photography is to help create a moment and use predictive behavior. A woman in a large gown will almost always straighten it out. I asked her to look away, and before I could finish the sentence and ask her to straighten her dress, it happened naturally. It was a real moment created with a little nudge in the right direction.
