Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at my home in Dublin, Ireland. The subject is my 'heart dog' Senna. He is probably one of the most photographed dogs ever!!!! The reason for this is that he is such a good looking red boy and I love him dearly. Also, as he is always by my side there are many photo opportunities.Time
The time of day was possibly around midday, judging by the light. To be honest I am not totally sure.Lighting
I do a bit of studio work with lighting, reflectors, etc but in this instance Senna was shot in window light. I love natural light and wherever possible I will use it for portraiture.Equipment
I use a Nikon D610 camera. No flash was used in this shot as it was pure and natural window light. No tripod was used in the shot. It was handheld.Inspiration
I love photographing animals, horses and dogs in particular. This was just a grabbed shot as the light just fell on him in a perfect way and I happened to have my camera beside me at the time. My dog and camera are usually close by :)Editing
A little post-processing was used, i.e. a small bit of saturation and I lightened his eyes slightly. In my camera bag
I would normally carry two cameras, my trusty full frame Nikon D610 (which I love) and a second camera, also a Nkon - D300. I normally carry an assortment of lenses, but not too many as they are heavy to lug around I usually carry my 70 - 200 mm which is my absolute favourite lens as I love the bokeh it creates. I also love my little 50 mm which is a beautiful lens for portraiture and also my 60 mm for macro shots. Sometime I also take a wide angle lens with me if I am heading to the countryside.Feedback
You can take dozens of photos but you always know when you press that shutter which one is going to be a keeper, even before you upload it to your computer when you get back home.
