Part of a series of shots experimenting with medium length exposure combined with intentional camera moves. I like this one, I was trying to emulate how we see the world during a downpour, hindered by the rain itself and by seeing the world through squinted eyes, looking out of the corners of your eyes to shield you from the worst of the downpour. I used a diagonal movement to accentuate the driving rain, and let the bright lights in the background over expose a bit to give that nighttime squint feel. It took a lot of shots to get the movement right, and then a lot of patience on behalf of my subjects to get the background right, the passer by in the right place.
