Chistiy prud literally means "clean pond". There is a metro station in Moscow which has name Chistie prudi "clean ponds". But actially there is only one pond there. In former time it was dirty pond where threw waste products from butcheries. In XVII Alexander Menshikov who had a property next to this pond has ordered to clean it. Since that the pond has name "clean pond".
