Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home diy studio, in Kempton Park South Africa. Found this little guy in my Kitchen and was set free after our little photo-shote I am a self taught photographer.

Time

This photo is one of my favourites as the subject sat still enough for me to get a few photos. As frogs are well known for jumping. I took this photo in the evening when they come out to sing for us.

Lighting

Having taken the photo at night helped the background stay dark and the colours pop. I used a bed side lamp on its side to direct the light to exactly where I wanted it

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3100 on aperture priority. Bed side lamp and a card board box painted black (which I had used for a craft project)

Inspiration

My original thought was just to capture its size as this photo had a R 2 coin next to him for reference. And it turns out that this was just one of those photos that turn out better than planed.

Editing

I normally only use hue and saturation with Photoshop. The only time I will do any touch ups is if I want to remove man made objects out of my wildlife photos.

In my camera bag

I just have the standard Nikon camera with two lenses.

Feedback

Always have your camera close.
