Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard, I was out poking the fire when I noticed them walking right toward me. Parents were taken the little ones out to show them the boundaries.

Time

When I took this photo it was close to lunch time, sometime around 11:30 to 12pm.

Lighting

Sun was almost straight up in the sky, would have been slightly at my back.

Equipment

Canon Rebel T5. Zoom lens 75-300mm

Inspiration

I really didn't have time to think about it, saw the geese, ran into house grabbed my camera and started shooting as I was walking toward them. My life revolves around waterfowl, and it helps that I have a couple of ponds in my backyard. With this being the first year that I have owned my camera, I have been learning a lot.

Editing

I didn't do any post-processing on this photo, other than crop it.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS Rebel T5 with a 75-300mm lens. I try to carry a tripod but seems like I never have time to get it set up for the fast moving waterfowl.

Feedback

Look for the unexpected. You never know when you will have a photo opportunity. Take as many pics as you can, you can always delete the bad ones. Put yourself where you know they will be, meaning you will most likely need to be up before sunup and wait long hours for that perfect shot.
