Location
This was in Munising, MI called Horseshoe Falls. It is on private property so there is a slight fee to see it but it is certainly well worth the cost. The family owned business has a pond with ducks to feed, surrounded by wild and domestic foliage. A bridge has been built over the lower part of the falls to give a sweet relaxing spot to view and admire the beauty God has made in our amazing world.Time
We arrived in the late morning. The trees and rock surround the falls so the sunlight does not directly shine onto the falls.Lighting
Diffused lighting. No harsh lights or reflections to deal with.Equipment
I am a photo freak, as I love to have my camera with me EVERY where I go. I have a Nikon D3300. It is plenty enough camera for me as I cannot lift anything with much weight to it. The items that can be purchased to use with this camera do a fantastic job of capturing anything. I used my 55-300 zoom lens with no flash as the diffused sunlight was enough to get the look I was aiming for. My tripod is, (haha, hot pink as is my camera strap cause I am a girly girl) lightweight any extremely versatile and easy to use. The brand is Mefoto.Inspiration
My husband and sister-in-law are also photo freaks. They are many years ahead if me in their love to "shoot" things. We took a 3 day road trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There are over 300 falls. We tried to get to as many as we could in the short time we had. We will definitely go back at another time to see more of these magnificent falls.Editing
I used Adobe Lightroom CC to add a little bit of light. In my camera bag
Zoom lenses are a must. I also love macro shots so I have a 50mm, my 35mm, 55-300 zoom along with several macro filters. I carry everything in a Think Tank messenger style bag. It is lightweight but has many pockets and sections to put all the paraphernalia associated with the amazing hobby of photography.Feedback
Have fun and enjoy the moments. Then after seeing the beauty, you can decide on the angles you want to catch. Watching other photographers also give me ideas I may not have thought of.
