I have been asked why I photograph the animals at Chester Zoo when zoo's generally have a bad image these days. Chester Zoo is one of the larger zoo's deeply involved in environmental protection overseas and captive breeding programmes of endangered species. As a visitor or member of Chester Zoo people are helping to support this essential work. In an ideal world everyone of the animals would be living in the wild, but, the reality is that without Chester Zoo and it's partners many of these species would now be extinct due to human activity. Through this series of photographs I am trying, in a small way, to highlight the incredible work the zoo is involved with around the world. Proceeds from sales of this image will be donated to Chester Zoo.
