I took this photo in my backyard, as I was walking back inside from chopping wood my cat, Cappuccino, was sitting on this log of wood just waiting for me to take a photo of her!Time
It was in the evening on a freezing winter's day! I was out chopping wood for the family fire, and collecting kindling, Cappuccino loves to follow me up and just sit and watch me work. I didn't actually have my camera on me when I took this shot, I wasn't planning on taking any pictures, but Cino looked so regal and the sunset lighting was perfect, so I quickly snapped this shot on my iPhone at about 5pm!Lighting
I had beautiful sunset lightening filtering through the trees behind me as I took this photo, Cino has starkly white fur which always catches the light beautifully and her eyes seem to glow in the light!Equipment
I only had my old iPhone 5c with me on this day!Inspiration
Cino rarely stays still enough for a photoshoot, and I have always wanted to get some beautiful shots of her, so when I saw her sitting regally on a log of wood just waiting for me I took my chance!Editing
I did a tiny bit of post-processing in Lightroom on this shot, just to bring out the detail in the log and to blur the background a bit as to bring the focus back onto Cappuccino! In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D3400 and my favourite lens the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm (which I love because of its awesome low light capabilities!), sometimes I'll carry my cheap tripod, and I'll always have my iPhone 6 just in case I need to take a quick shot, but my favourite item is my beloved Nikon camera!Feedback
Always be ready to take a shot quickly, especially working with animals, bring their focus to the camera by clicking your fingers, waving around their favourite toy or even bribing them with treats! I love taking animal pictures because they're always so unpredictable and you never know what shot you're going to get!
