St. Peter's Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, was completed in 1833 it served as both a church and school at the time of the civil war remaining the only church in the town that was not severely damaged or destroyed by the heavy bombardments from both northern and southern forces.
We were lucky enough to reach Harper's Ferry during the worst of the snow storm last week, the sun had gone down and we pushed on past numerous scenes of distress on the roads. Having finally reached the silent town it had all been worth it, not a footprint in sight.
