Behind The Lens

Location

This is a clump of echinacea I rescued from death one year, from the side of the road. This is its third year, and it has doubled. It brings monarchs, hummingbirds and scads of bees and flies to our front yard, giving us a great view from our solarium window every year. After I had kids, I found my love of plants began to grow exponentially. I find most of my plants abandoned or dug out and tossed away. Pretty rewarding!

Time

Dawn. Every morning, I go out and check in with everything.

Lighting

For me, when it comes to flowers, dawn light is when they're at their best. Also, I'm a massive amateur, and I've found this is a consistent time to create images that resonate with me personally.

Equipment

I have a Nikon d90 which I got, thirdhand, from kijiji. The lens for this one is an automatic 18-55mm. I'm not adept with flash, so I never use it.

Inspiration

Well, just look at them. Being just so.

Editing

Not for this one, but I sometimes have to increase saturation with dawn photos about ten degrees.

In my camera bag

My camera, my other lens (a 50 mm manual), and glass cleaning cloths.

Feedback

Try to stay still, and take the picture you like best.
