Behind The Lens

Location

This was at Destruction Bay Lodge RV park, In Destruction Bay Yukon. Lynx was hunting ground squirrels and I was taking pictures with my Sony, while my wife walked way up behind and down the side shooting video with a Nikon. It was windy (it always is in D-Bay) and she (my wife) eventually made her way back to me and scared the gopher(s) away. I thought I wasn't going to get a shot of the lynx Catching a gopher, so I gave her the Sony and That's when the Lynx sat up and looked at us as if to say, 'You stole my breakfast'

Time

It was morning. We were having coffee and saw the lynx go by the window, so we grabbed the cameras and headed out to see if it was sill around. It was in a field stalking (staking?) out a gopher hole waiting for one to come out so it could pounce.

Lighting

No. It was daytime like it ALWAYS is in the Yukon summer.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Sony DSC HX100v.

Inspiration

it's a Lynx, Hunting. How often do you get to see that? I was hoping to get a photo of it Actually Catching a gopher ( Richardsons ground squirrel), that didn't happen.

Editing

My wife used windows photo gallery editor to brighten the photo and bring out the colours .

In my camera bag

My Sony and my lens cleaning cloth. I have a tripod, but that doesn't fit in the bag, and sometimes I've used it as a walking stick.

Feedback

Go places. Take pictures. Take lots and lots of pictures. That's one of the best things about digital cameras; you can take LOTS of pictures, even if most of them are crap, every so often you get a really good one.
