Behind The Lens

Location

Elizabeth Park in Hartford, CT

Time

2pm

Lighting

when I take flower photos I underexpose by a half stop so I don't blow out the details

Equipment

Canon 70D, 24-70mm 2.8 lens

Inspiration

Elizabeth Park is one of my favorite places for flower photos. The dahlias are beautiful. I'm really partial to dahlias because my daughter loves them.

Editing

I do very little post processing. I did convert this to black and white because of the elegant simplicity of the photo

In my camera bag

Canon 70D, Canon 2.8 24-70 lens, Canon 2.8 70-200 lens, Sigma 5.6-6.3 50-500 lens, rogue flashbender, Gary Fong lightsphere, intervalometer, Mefoto Roadtrip tripod

Feedback

With flowers I think exposure is most important, especially on a sunny day a light colored flower should be slightly underexposed so the details aren't blown out. I use a low f stop for single flowers
