Behind The Lens

Location

I took this on my property outside as my cat was lounging about one early evening.

Time

It was early evening.

Lighting

This was in taken in open shade but with enough light that I didnt have to add any fill.

Equipment

I shot this with a Canon 7d and Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS (handheld)

Inspiration

I am always looking at him and studying his face. His features and markings are so striking, it captivates me so I thought I would try to capture with an extreme close up.

Editing

The only post processing was cropping and contrast and vibrance boost.

In my camera bag

I usually carry two 7d bodies. The lenses I use the most are my Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS, Tokina 10-22 f3.5/4.5 and my new Canon 24mm f2.8 pancake lens. I always carry a speedlight.

Feedback

When photographing animals it's similar to photographing kids...it's part patience, timing and luck. I had the advantage of knowing this cat since he is my pet and I can predict his behavior somewhat to try and get the shot I want.
