Röttle village lies between Röttleåns waterfalls and its mouth in the lake Vättern. The name comes from Röttle Rytlofors, the roaring rapids, which is coated from 1279. The village's character comes from the industries that have embraced Röttleåns hydropower. Several mills have been found along the river. Today there are two preserved, Rasmus mill and Jerusalem mill. Rasmus mill built in ing.the 1600s as a drilling and grinding mill, but was rebuilt in the early 1700s to a mill for grinding flour. Jerusalem mill is older and was probably built during the late Middle Ages. The village also has Småland's oldest paper mill remained. It began operations in the mid-1600s.
