Stunning shot. I do love capturing birds and this is a real beauty. Well Done.

Location
This photo was taken in December on the waterways of Bruges, Belgium. My dad taught me the key points of photography, however I'm still learning and experimenting.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon just before tea time after spending hours walking and exploring beautiful Bruges. It was a cold December day with patches of ice and frost which made things look a little grey and cold. The swans looked happy however, I was very lucky to capture this picture.Lighting
The natural light of the day was crisp and clear. The beauty of the swan was enhanced only by the darkness of the water. I like to keep my photos simple and as I see things.Equipment
This was taken with my trusty Canon EOS 500D. I did not use any accessories or tripod.Inspiration
I'm afraid I have no grand answer on what inspired me to take this picture. When I travel to new places I enjoy documenting what I see weather that is buildings, local wildlife or delicious food. I simply take photos for me of what I like and enjoy. I'm thrilled that others enjoy them too.Editing
I never edit my photos apart from cropping the image and sometimes brighting them. I enjoy leaving things as I see them and keeping a more natural look.In my camera bag
I'm a little sad to say I only have the one camera and lens. A Canon EOS 500D and a 18 - 55mm lens. However I have been brought up to make the best of what you have. "It's not the equipment you have that counts, it's how you use it."Feedback
My advice in regards to taking any photos would be. Take pictures of what you like, never follow treads and just be your own creative self. The best photos are the ones you love. My first camera was an Olympus OM10 which had old fashioned film, it was important to take my time and think about the image I wanted before pressing the shutter button in order not to waste film. My point is even though we use digital memory cards now with space for 1000s of images, spending a little time thinking about your photo never hurts, take time in framing your image getting the best possible angle. Practice, have patience and most of all, enjoy yourself.
