The photo (my favorite capture!! ) was taken in a nature preservation project area, that is a beautiful garden of many kinds of flowers and plants. A University supports it each summer!! Butterflies are often numerous as they have their fill of nectar!!Time
I recall it being mid-afternoon when the sun was bright and beaming down upon the garden! I was fluttering around to many different flower beds, as were the butterflies, trying to get the best shot, and as many well know, butterflies are often difficult to capture as they flit from flower to flower!! I took over 500 pictures that day!! I decided to outsmart the butterflies and I squatted down upon my hunches :) and chose that one flower as my subject. I hoped that a butterfly would land! I am a hopeful amateur!! I posed that flower and the sunlight's rays in my frame, just as you see it...and I waited!!! Patience and a steady hand were needed!! I had no tri-pod... I was using my knees to steady my camera!! :) And there you have it... this little beauty arrived and if that wasn't wonderful enough, he posed for me as I "captured him"! There is JOY in that kind of capture!! I feel so grateful for that!!Lighting
The lighting was simply the shining sun!! Most of my photos are of nature, and I use the sun as best I can to be the natural lighting for my captures!! :)Equipment
This was shot with my one and only camera, my CANON Powershot SX530HS. No frills. Just my steady hands holding my camera upon my knees - in lieu of a tripod!Inspiration
I am a nature lover!! I often shoot butterflies and birds and flowers and trees!! This day, I was nudged to stop at the garden as the day was lovely and the sun, magnificent!! Photography is my hobby... it does wonders for the soul. Nature inspires me; capturing it, with very little, if any at all, post photo editing is my desire and passion!!Editing
The only editing that I did was to pull it to the forefront simply by playing with the highlight and brightness, that's all - simply done!!In my camera bag
As I said, I am an amateur!! All that I carry is my camera and an extra memory stick!! :) And my very keen eyes that "see"!!Feedback
Timing and patience and a very clear sunny afternoon are all that you need to capture, as I do, simply! The Macro feature helps as I was using that setting for that particular shot! I was very close to that flower!!
