Location
I took this picture walking around the Mexican jungle near a Mayan ruin site. I was looking for palm trees with my 300 mm telephoto and I noticed a funny curl at the end of the leaf, so I got a little closer, look for the right angle and light and took the picture.Time
I usually go out a little before sunset, around 6 pm, so I can get the warm light before the sun goes down.Lighting
Yes, I tried to take the picture against the light so I could get a lighter rim around the edges.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000, with my 300 mm prime lens, and a tripod.Inspiration
I was looking for different kinds of palms for my "nature" collection.Editing
I always apply the same post processing to my pictures. First I download them to Lightroom and adjust lightness and shadows, white balance, and a little bit of sharpness. Then I crop the picture as needed. Some times after this I open them in photoshop, but not with this picture. In my camera bag
I have 2 Nikon cameras D7000 & D7200, a GoPro, 3 lenses, batteries and chargers, extra memory cards, some filters and macro lenses.Feedback
Yes, Plan ahead, be Patient, and Practice (the 3 P´s).
