The Atlantic Sea Nettle or Chrysaora Quinquecirrha is quite common along the North Carolina coast and they even wander up the rivers from the ocean. From a safe distance they are wonderful to watch.Captivating. However after having endured a situation where I was stung over 100 times within minutes of entering the Cape Fear River at Shark Tooth Island, I have a very healthy respect for them.
