Behind The Lens

Location

I work on a private game reserve in South Africa, Kruger National Park for a year and a half and this shot was taken on one of the safaris. In Kapama Private Game Reserve.

Time

We were actually racing to get to a nice open area where we could get shots of the sunset and came across the herd of buffalo. Another vehicle came from behind us and they came together to watch the vehicle approach.

Lighting

The only fiddling I did to get this shot was change the white balance around to get that brown color.

Equipment

On that day I had just taken my Canon 700D with the 70-300mm Sigma Macro Lens. And the lighting was good so I could have a good shutter speed for a hand held shot.

Inspiration

It's just amazing how buffalo come together when they become curios about something they group together like they are going to protect each other. So I just thought it would be great to display that behavior.

Editing

I normally do for most of my pictures but for this one, I didn't do any post processing.

In my camera bag

I normally just having my 15-35 canon lens with the 70-300 Sigma lens it's always all depending on what I'm planning to go out and shoot

Feedback

It's just all about trying to find the art in any shot. I never go for just the normal shots I always try to find something artistic that you wouldn't see everyday.
