I took this picture on an obscure hike in little known Great Basin National Park. The Park's relative anonymity made it such a beautiful, unique treasure that quickly became one of my favorite places in the United States.

Location
This photo was taken in Great Basin National Park. I was hiking with my family and we walked through this beautiful field at twilight - I couldn't help but capture the amazing colors and scenery.Time
This was taken during twilight in June of 2015, at about 6 or 7pm. I will never forget how wild and untouched this national park felt - we barely encountered any other hikers in this oasis in the middle of the Nevada desert.Lighting
The lighting was all-natural - in order to correctly expose the sky and the field, I took two separate photos with different exposures and overlayed them in photoshop elements. I wanted to capture how ethereal the scenery appeared to me; I felt like I was on another planet.Equipment
Nikon D7000, no flash, no tripod, 50mm lens.Inspiration
I'm an amateur photographer who loves hiking, so anytime I'm hiking I am always looking for the perfect nature shot. After hours of hiking, I discovered this beautiful field at the perfect time of day - golden hour. I was immediately drawn to it and started taking several photos.Editing
Like I mentioned before, I overlayed two differently exposed photos. I did little else to edit the photo besides altering saturation, shadows, highlights, etc.In my camera bag
A tripod and at least one telephoto lens and one mid-range lens. I'm an amateur who can't afford a lot of equipment, so I don't bring much with me!Feedback
Take more pictures than you think you need! Don't be afraid to experiment with your settings, even if it takes longer to get the perfect shot. If you like nature photography, travel as much as you can. Remember that golden hour is the best time to get the most dramatic and beautiful shots, especially for nature photography.
