Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at the lower Tahquamenon Falls in Paradise, Michigan, which is located in the Upper Peninsula.Time
This was taken around 4:30 in the afternoon on July 6, 2016.Lighting
It was a beautiful sunny day, I was sitting on a bench in the shade of trees watching the waterfall. I noticed how the sun played on the trees and the water from the angle it was in the sky. I also noticed how the other side of the trees were darker and shaded as the sun was behind them.Equipment
Canon Ts3i with a 70mm -300mm lens. I did not have a tripod with me so shot this picture from my hands. I did not use a flash, I was in manual mode and made adjustments to my aperture and shutter speed to get the shot I wanted.Inspiration
I take my camera with me alot. I love taking pictures and you never know when you might come up on a beautiful shot. We took my son and daughter in law up to see the falls as my daughter in law had never been there. I took the camera and was pretty much taking pictures of the kids and the scenery. As I sat watching the falls and noticed how the light played on the scene I just had to capture it with the camera.Editing
I really didn't I was shooting in manual mode and made adjustments to the aperture and shutter speed, with no flash on. When I loaded the picture up to my computer I was very happy with it just how it was.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon Rebel Ts3i camera, two lens a wide angle lens and one that is 70mm -300 mm. I have a backup battery Lens hoods for both lens, and I also carry a couple of filters with me. Sometimes I have a tripod I carry along with me also.Feedback
Be patient, really look at the area. See how the light plays on the different areas you are going for photography. Be aware of the type of light. Be aware of just what it is that you want to capture in the scene. Try different shutter speeds and different f stops.
