Behind The Lens

Location

I love rain so as soon as I heard the rain on my office buildings roof I grabbed the camera want went out back. This picture was taken at the base of a tree.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

The rain water hit the brown mulch and turned it dark black. When the mulch turned black it made the orange leafs colors pop out.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7D with the Canon L Lens 70-200mm (1:2.8). I didnt use a tripod or flash.

Inspiration

The orange leaf just jumped out at me against that dark background.

Editing

This photo wasnt edit much at all. The main things I edited was I bumped up the color saturation and darken the blacks. I shoot RAW to me there is not other way.

In my camera bag

Everything... Canon 7D, 4-5 Lens (L Lens are a must). Lens filters. 2 or more camera batteries, 2 or more memory cards, a Flash and a remote.

Feedback

My suggestion is don't try to capture what other Photographers capture. Be creative and look for shots that jump out and grab your eyes. I'm still learning and will always continue to learn. No one know everything about Photography. You have to have a passion and want to become better. I consider Photography an art. In art there is no right or wrong. Art is based opinion. My main suggestion is learn your tools. The camera and how it works. The shots just come natural to me. I believe some people are just born with an artistic eye and talents. And practice, practice and practice some more.
