Behind The Lens

Location

Bar Harbor, Maine

Time

Near sunset in early May.

Lighting

Natural lighting. Trying to get the lobster boats at sunset.

Equipment

Minolta Maxim 7D, Tamron 28-300 lens (probably the lens I use the most)j focal length 140mm exposure 1/90 f5.5 ISO125 Normal program mode Spot metering. Hand held

Inspiration

The magic hour and since we were on vacation in Maine, I needed a sunset and the lobster boats.

Editing

A little post processing to work on the contrast

In my camera bag

Bodies. Minolta mXx 7D Sony Alpha 100 mosty I carry zoom lenses Tamron 28-300 Sigma 70-200 F2.8 Sigma 10-20 wise angle Minolta 28-85 macro zoom I have a couple of older flashes and a light weight tripod

Feedback

The best advice I have is to be patient and walk around for angles. There is no cost to try different views with Digiral gear. This is what I think was the best shot out of several I took before dinner. I also try to crop in camera, but don’t be afraid to crop later to get what you want.
