This image was shot in Florence. I visited Florence while on a cruise with my family. Florence was very busy and I wanted some images without the usual tourists. so I walked over the famous bridge " Ponte Vecchio" and saw this bridge "Ponte alla Carraia". As you can see the weather was not great but I knew I could enhance the sky a bit when I got home. I saw the symmetry before I took the shot. When I processed the image it popped out at me.Time
We had a very nice lunch in Florence. (we were able to do this as we hired a private taxi and did not have to rush back to the bus). This was about 2 pm when it was taken.Lighting
The light was not good as you can see, but I made use of the clouds and enhanced them with Nik Software Detail Extractor.Equipment
When I go on holiday I take a compact Camera most of the time, as my D800 can get heavy and it does not please my wife. A Panasonic DMC-TZ60 was used to take this. This camera is fine at low ISO but not so good at the high end. I upgrade to the TZ80 which is a vast improvement.Inspiration
I love to take shots of Architecture of all kinds. This shot is not the usual sights of Florence and I wanted something a bit more unique. I think i might have achieved that with this image.Editing
I always use Photoshop with Nik software. My workflow is a bit chaotic and never the same for each image. I have to do my photography between my work and family. My first stop is Colorefex 4 with pro contrast and then a little detail extractor. Sharpening using Unsharp mask set at 60 % , 3 Radius and 2 thresholdIn my camera bag
On specific Photo days I take my Nikon D800 with Nikon 28-300 lens and my Nikon 14-24 mm. as i have said on holiday my Panasonic TZ-80 or my Nikon 1 J1Feedback
Try an avoid tourist difficult I know but walk off the beaten track. always have your camera ready as you do not know what is around the corner. Set your camera to P mode so you can shot and get a good picture without worrying about settings. I am more interested in the image than the settings.
