Growing up in Canada, everyone knows we are known for our maple trees - even our flag has a maple leaf on it but I have never seen a maple tree quite like this one. The colour was exactly how you see it, with bright orange bark and paper thin layers all the way around. The paperbark maple comes from the family of Aceraceae.
