During my trip to Nova Scotia, I promised myself I would take a nice sunrise or sunset shot of Peggy's Cove. The first day was too cloudy and raining but the second day I waited for hours with an early dusk set up. Although clouds still came in, there was enough warm light peeking through to create that peaceful - yet subtle sunset shot by the Lighthouse.

Location
I took this photo during a summer trip to Nova Scotia at Peggy's Cove when I was 19 years old.Time
The day I had arrived from Toronto to Nova Scotia was a cloudy day with a bit of showers so we didn't stay long at Peggy's Cove. However, I felt like there was more to discover here and shots I wanted to take if only the weather was better so I went again the next day. I waited patiently inside the shop before setting up my tripod where a kind lady gave me a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows.Lighting
When the golden hour was approaching for sundown, I had set up my tripod and had my Nikon D300s ready to go when all of a sudden these clouds came in and completely changed my vision of a vibrant, golden sky. I wasn't going to let that stop me because most the time when I go shooting, unplanned events can always occur.Equipment
My first DSLR was the Nikon D90 which I will admit is a good camera to start off your photography but when I got to college I switched to the Nikon D300s and I haven't put it down since. I can't afford fancy lenses so all my photos from then on have always been taken with my D300s and my 18mm-200mm Nikkor Lens.Inspiration
A lot of my inspiration comes from nature. Since I was a young kid my parents have always taken my brother and I on family trips not just to other provinces in Canada but Europe aswell. I've always grown to appreciate the beauty of nature and enjoy the times I get a chance to travel and see the world in different ways.Editing
The sky was exactly as is shown so no processing was done. The shadows on the lighthouse were a bit dark so I did lighten the dark shadows but only to the lighthouse so it didn't fade too much. Most my shots are done with little post processing but I have learned to take the same shots with different exposures that way I can later see what works best in new situations. In my camera bag
I always make sure I have my Nikon D300s and my tripod just in case no matter where I go. If I'm doing portraits, I pack my SB900 flash and sometimes a light metre. Believe it or not, I only own one lens due to my low budget but my Nikkor 18-200mm lens has been more than fantastic for me. I've been able to capture nature and small bugs, wild life from afar, wide landscapes and even portraits with my one lens. I am limited to a point where I can only get small objects close but not too close but with just enough detail as well as wild life from afar but not too far. My goal would be to expand my collection just enough where I can have the ability to go further with my work.Feedback
I try to absorb all the situations I have come across such as weather conditions, distracting subjects in the background and how quickly things are moving. With this shot in particular, the vision I had BEFORE I set up my equipment was not what appeared in reality but instead it gave me a chance to redirect my vision and work with that. From then on I have learned that sometimes it's not always best to have a plan because in the field of photography (especially for those who travel and/or shoot nature and the outdoors), you almost always have to expect the unexpected. Don't worry if you can't afford a lot of lenses because the most important thing as a photographer (professional or hobbyist) is to experiment with your equipment. Take pride in your work and learn from those experiences. The best thing I have learned is that you don't need expensive lenses to produce good work. With determination, good attitude and an open mind, you can take your photography anywhere you like.
