This photo was taken on a river la Paiz in Costa Rica. My step moms family lives there so we always visit these amazing, adventurous places when we go.Time
This photo was taken August 24, 2014 at about 1:30. It was a bit gloomy on this day, which made a fantastic, eerie fog to surround the trees. The river was rushing down and it was just such a marvelous view, one that makes you want to sit back and just watch for awhile.Lighting
I really tried to get the lighting bright where the sun was and dark for the trees. This made it look more mysterious and creepy, which is what i usually tend to go for in my pictures.Equipment
I used the Canon Rebel t1i camera with a 58mm lens and i also used Gimp to edit this photo into the great black and white effect. This is what really made the picture become so ghostly.Inspiration
As I looked at the trees, and the rushing river I was astounded. It was a moment I wanted to keep forever so I held up my camera and clicked. Its nice to look back at this photo and remember all the great memories from this trip. Also, these trees were just so beautiful, and I'm a sucker for awesome trees. The way they had the vines drooping from them, its not something you usually see living in the palm tree state of Florida. It was a nice difference.Editing
It didn't take too much editing to make photo pop. I just made it monochrome in Gimp and played with the shadows, but not too much. The beautiful scenery did most of the work.In my camera bag
Of course I always pack my Canon, otherwise I'd just have to imagine taking pictures, But I do have some other essentials. I usually bring and extra sd card just in case i run out of space on my first one. I also bring a lens cap, a UV protector, color filters, my batteries and the charger, and a flashlight, just in case.Feedback
My advise is to get out there and explore! Find new places, capture it in a unique way, make people feel something when they look at it, whether content or the rushing feeling to want to go on an adventure of their own. Always keep discovering.
