Behind The Lens

Location

Hi there, Its a view of Worcester Cathedral and this path runs next to the River Severn.

Time

I took this photo one winter evening in 2015.

Lighting

There is a lovely restaurant on the left here with bright blue lights shining from the front of the building but I took this image with the intention of B&W anyway. I like how the trees were casting shadows towards me which also help as a lead in line.

Equipment

I used a small aperture, f:16 using a Canon 50mm prime lens and a tripod to keep the camera still for the long exposure.

Inspiration

I love the uneven texture of the path and the metal fence leading down along the river side. The Worcester Cathedral can be seen from most areas of Worcester.

Editing

I used Lightroom CC to edit basic adjustments and then I converted it to B&W.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS M, Olympus OM10, Tripod, 55-250mm telephoto lens, 50mm lens, 18-55mm lens and my Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens. I have a 77mm polarizing filter with stacker rings to fit all lenses and a remote shutter release.

Feedback

Use a tripod and a small aperture to get the light starbursts. The tripod also helps with composition and helps you take your time to get everything set up properly. Use the cameras 2 second timer or a remote/cable shutter release to avoid camera shake to get the sharpest image you can. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
