Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken near Nasipit port in Northern Caraga Region, province of Mindanao Philippines.

Time

This was shot around 6pm in the afternoon

Lighting

The lighting is somewhere getting dark, i took this shot without having any ND filter

Equipment

Canon 70D, a cheap and sturdy Tripod with ball head. lens was just 18-55 canon kit lens

Inspiration

I've have seen a lot of long exposure shots online and learning it from different sites made me to create my own. I planned where to take a nice long exposure and hey I made this. happy with what i got.

Editing

Yes, I have made post processing on this photo getting the exposure right and tuning the colors. I used lightroom to do some basic grading the i switch to photoshop and did masking to preserve the details on the board walk..

In my camera bag

I don't have a lot of gears since I'm just starting. What I normally have is a 18-55 canon kit, and my Canon 70D and my trustworthy sturdy Tripod on the go. With these I can already get a good shot and hoping to achieve and prove that it is always about the skill and imagination.

Feedback

The Philippines is known as a tropical country, which means there is always a good day to do long exposures. For me it's about planning where, what and when to do your shot knowing the best places to capture your masterpiece. Be patient in doing long exposures specially when you don't even have a shutter remote timer. it may take time to perfectly capture this photography technique but it is always worth it.
