This shot was taken in Panama City, Panama. Panama is also known for the Canal, the rainforest, the sandy beaches, the caribbean cuisine and the good coffee. It was a cloudless night near the beautiful skyline of the city and I believe this was my last picture before everyone at home woke up to start the family weekend trip to the beach.Time
That day I looked out of the window around 1 AM and couldn't let go the opportunity to grab the camera for a night sky picture. There was a nice fresh breeze when I opened the window, and it lasted until the second battery ran out. I took this picture a bit before sunrise on August 13, 2016 at 6:37 AM.Lighting
This photo is fully surrounded by natural light without any modifiers even if the moment and the composition played a mayor part. I tried to let the motion of the city lights show the rich human living under the stars by capturing its movements. The bridge over the water was revealed by the automobile lights driven by dozens of people on their way to another day. An early morning flight was about to land most probably bringing locals and visitors, each and everyone with their own expectations about their trip. The flightpath was captured by the continuos white and the intermittent red lights of the plane. And last but not least, the soft rays of sunrise started painting the clouds with its wonders under the sight of Orion which shortly after disappeared before our eyes, even if it keeps on being there for a while... concealed behind the daylight.Equipment
The picture was taken with a mirrorless camera and an all-in-one lens. A Sony Alpha 6300 using a Tamron 18-200 mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III Vc lens with a [pro]master 62mm UV filter and a Targus TG-6660TR tripod.Inspiration
The stars trail makes me wonder that we are moving at earth's speed. I can't imaging the amount of energy needed to throw out all that mass where we are sitting at... and make it move that fast. At the same time the thought of how fragile and privileged our lives are comes to my mind. I run out of words thinking about all this Universe.Editing
I usually keep the pictures the way they were captured. The ARW file was exported to JPEG and maybe the color levels had a slight adjustment using Preview. In my camera bag
I have a very compact lightweight outdoor camera backpack. It includes the Sony Alpha 6300, a Tamron 18-200 mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III Vc lens with a [pro]master 62mm UV filter and a hood, a backup battery, a Joby Gorilla tripod and some cleaning tools.Feedback
Capturing light remembers me phrases like “Patience is a virtue”. In the blink of an eye time goes by “when you are doing what you do... with Love”. There is a whole world out there full of amazing things. “Take a walk” and bring your camera.
