Behind The Lens

Location

I finished work in the early afternoon and on an impromptu whim I stopped at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL. to see what I could see...

Time

It was early afternoon with a cool breeze and bright warm cloudless day

Lighting

bright sunshine and I used color and brightness adjustment on camera settings

Equipment

I make an effort to keep a camera in my car most of the time and the timing was perfect to be " in the moment" and be open to shoot anything that appealed to me.

Inspiration

I simply was meandering through the garden paths and suddenly came across and stepped into a myriad of flowers,... it was a moment of appreciation and mindfulness.... I began taking images from a variety of angles in an attempt to capture the pure joy of the moment...

Editing

One of my photographic values is to capture an image in its most authentic and natural presentation with as little post processing as possible... with this image, I just increased the intensity of the color as best as I can remember

In my camera bag

I am so appreciative of the features of my , Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40, and the fact that I don't need to carry a bag of close-up lens' and filters that I only carry the camera, an extra SD card and a lens cleaning cloth

Feedback

When I go on an impromptu shoot, my thought is to be totally, " in the moment" with a sense of mindfulness that allows me see anything and every thing as a potential for a captured image. I look for color initially and then look for patterns, shadows , reflections, silhouettes....When I see something that I want to remember, I make a decision to pursue that theme in other images or simply add it to my collection of ' possibilities for later.
