Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Coldstream, British Columbia. The lake is called Kalamalka Lake.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

Kalamalka Lake is one of a handful of unique bodies of water known as marl lakes. When the lake warms in summer, calcium carbonate, or limestone, forms crystals that reflect sunlight and create its distinctive blue and green colours. During the mid fall to winter season the clouds drop and it gives a hazy look. In this photo there are very thick clouds with the sun hiding behind.

Equipment

I used my galaxy 6s phone.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo because being close to nature gives me a sense of peace & happiness. I recently moved from a large metro fast pace city (left my belongings behind) to come to a slow pace city full of beautiful gems. For the last 1.5yrs I traveled around British Columbia, exploring places that I felt were relaxing and easy on the eyes. My dad passed away prior to me becoming a traveling minimalist and he last wish was to travel, so each time I travel I bring a little bit of his ashes and release them into an area I think he would of enjoyed visiting.

Editing

Just changed a little bit of the contrast from my cell phone.

In my camera bag

Just my phone!

Feedback

My tips are take a few shots on whatever image you like that way there should be a couple out of the bunch that you like. Take your time and when looking through the lens or phone just imagine how that will look after. Try to keep a steady hand, clean your lens, and line up objects as best as you can.
