This picture was taken close to downtown Winston-Salem, NC. I was on my way home from a stressful meeting and photography is my escape and the best way I have to relax. Having passed this bridge several times and never giving it much thought, this particular day I decided to stop truly not expecting to find a great photographing opportunity.Time
It was late morning and the day was already sunny and beautiful.Lighting
At this point in my photographing experience the sun is still my best friend. I haven't moved up to that place of being able to put a lot of thought into the perfect lighting and the various sources and outcomes. However, I am learning new things all the time through reading, experimenting and looking at the work of others. So I feel confident that one day some things will become second nature.Equipment
When i took this picture the only equipment I used was an iPhone 6. You really can create great photos and it is always with me whenever I spontaneously decide to stop and take pictures.Inspiration
I naturally find myself drawn to images that have great symmetry and depth. Coming up the sidewalk and seeing the perfect balance and the beams across the walkway, I immediately saw a great picture.Editing
I admit to being a photo editing app addict. I will take a picture and experiment with various edits until it looks the way I feel it should. This picture was nice in black and white, but it was adding texture to the image that made me feel it was a great photo. In my camera bag
Since taking this picture I've purchased a Nikon and I'm still learning along the way, so through experimenting and trial & error, what is normally with me has yet to be determined. Hopefully through experience and knowledge, this time next year I'll have the perfect equipment bagFeedback
Many of my favorite pictures have been taken while driving down the road and simply seeing something that I think would make a great picture. Not every picture has to be over-thought or pre-planned. This photo was taken simply because I needed to take a few moments to stop and de-stress.
